Commission for my friend :iconravenholm:

I've worked with her characters before, and I must say I love the vibe they got, crimelife stylish noir-esque. For this image I wanted to play with implied lines in composition, and practice urban setting, which I've not done since forever.

I'm really happy with the result.
Took me 2 days.

Used some textures from [link]

I'm on a roll :icondealwithitplz: (more like picking up pace)

This song [link] I found it incredibly inspiring for this.

Thanks! I guess you're right, I would say, if anything, the typical noir atmosphere seen in many other films. I like the fact it was a modern setting though.

Cigarette.
Dark colour palette.
Large coat.
Looks like you've got the noir feel down perfectly.

I'm surprised no-one's commissioned you for a comic yet. Although I guess that would stretch you a bit.

Success :dummy:

Well, if anything I could make covers and coloring, but comics per se, I don't really have much of experience with it, nor a portfolio fitting.

Ah, okay. Well, you did do that one page comic with the little girl being eaten by a monster. That's a bit of experience, isn't it?

Heh...to be fair I figured something more along the line of NIN's The Day The World Went Away would've been more fitting for this piece given its general melancholy but again a nice work on those dark textures to give the overall atmosphere some justice. :3

It probably reminds you of it, because he sorta ended up looking like Reznor, "we're in this together" era. Although it was absolutely not the goal, nor I used him as inspiration.

He got something from my own face actually, male version, of course. I suppose it's because I didn't use references, and I got certain freedom to interpretation, so yeah, when I get that and I get into the character, their faces end up having something of me.

Interesting phenomena, heh.

and thanks, man. :)

Hehe...yeah he sorta did. I shouldn't have listened to so much NIN at that particular time. :P

It is an interesting phenomena now that you mention it. It's certainly noted now upon second glance.

I noticed when I was almost done.
Moral of the story: if I were a dude, I would look like Trent, meaning goth chicks would throw themselves at me and I'd get a lot of pus- you get the idea. :icondealwithitplz:

I think it happens, because when you're not using refs, your visual library goes to what it knows best: your own face.

I pondered this and found it frighteningly accurate...:P
